General Information About Bone Cancer:
(This is in layman's terms if any errors pls give feedback, the same will be promply corrected)
- Who gets this disease:
- This disease though a rare one, mostly affects the teenage children when they are in their fast growth age
bracket. In some cases we find that even above 40 years old people may get
affected. Bone cancer may also come as metastasis in bones due to other types of cancer like breast cancer.
- Causes:
- No well established causes exist as of
today, the victims
fall under unlucky part of the low statistics of this disease.
- Diagnosis:
- It is first suspected with x ray and confirmed with
biopsy.
- Treatment:
- As of now the best treatment option is multi drug
chemotherapy combined with surgery. usually the surgery is sandwitched
between the chemo cycles. On the whole treatment will take about 9 months
- Cure rate:
- Now a days with a combination of multi drug chemo therapy and surgery the cure rate has improved.
The curing possibility a particular case is best discussed with the concerned doctors.

- Where do we get treatment and support ?:
- The treatment facilities are listed on this site
country and city wide. The support is extended by many voluntary
organizations usually with their representatives in the big hospitals
treating this disease. you could find some of them lised on this site
- How many types of primary bone cancer are there?:
- The common bone cancer types are osteo sarcoma, Ewing
sarcoma, Chondro sarcoma. There seem to be many more which are rare
